It's been a hot minute since my last blog post and to be honest, Im not sure I felt like I had anything worth sharing.
In recent times I have returned to fulltime employment in the youth work industry and it has been a journey. In one sense I felt like I had abandoned my values, as my desire was to be self-sufficient and self-employed, so returning to paid employment left me questioning my values. On the other hand I could not ignore the niggle pushing me back into working with young people.
What I have learned is that sometimes it's not the job you need to be in but the people in that space you are destined to meet. I have also learned it is okay to change direction and as long as you remain true to yourself - by changing course you are not abandoning your values but simply changing what you value more.
So how do we find the map that gets us to where we are meant to be going?
The answer to this question is simple - follow your heart and you will always end up where you are meant to be. Even if you have no idea what direction you are meant to be going in, or what the bigger picture is or the higher meaning to all of it - ask your heart where you need to be next - follow it's direction and you can't go wrong. For when we follow our heart, we listen to love, and we end up sharing that love with others - this is what creates connection and provides us with a sense of purpose.
There is also magic that happens when we surrender and allow the Universe to take us where it needs us to be. We often carry expectations of where we think we should be and what we think we are meant to be doing, and often times this way of thinking can hold us back and leave us feeling stuck and frustrated. Going with the flow and remaining curious about life allows us to uncover and discover the magic in those spaces in between, and often presents us with solutions we may never have considered if we didnt allow ourselves to let go.
And over time we realise we dont need a map after all - for the greatest fun we can have is exploring the unchareteredterritories - all the maybes and whatifs of life.
