An Introduction to Kiah Corner

Updated: Jul 13, 2021

Welcome home!

Kiah Corner has been a passion project of mine for many years now, and it is such an amazing space to see it finally being birthed. Kiah Corner aims to be a place where everyone feels included and comes together to learn and grow. I have a passion for learning and teaching and can’t wait to share it with you all! Each week I will be sharing and discussing different topics through this blog space, but thought I would start off with a really common question I get asked:

“Where do I start with my own spirituality?”

There’s an easy answer to that question: anywhere.

Spirituality is different for everyone, and people enjoy different parts of spirituality – so go where your heart takes you. A good place to start is the many spiritual pages on Facebook or Instagram or a Google search. Scroll through the pages and click on anything that sparks your interest, and then research,

read about it or try it.

There are many different groups, teachings and practices you can try – pick one place or topic to start with and go from there. You may try things or read about things and decide they don't align well with you – and that is perfect. Sometimes when we don’t know what we like, it is easier to decide what we don’t like. Or you might try something and find you like one particular aspect of it, so follow that lead and learn more about that part.

Another great place to start is a Spiritual Fair or event. These events have many different practitioners who offer a wide variety of modalities, and it’s a great place to get a taste of what sparks your own interests. You don’t have to spend a lot of money either – it can be a good idea to take a notebook with you and write down topics you find inspiring so you can do your own research at home, or collect business cards from the various practitioners so you can make bookings at a future time when you have the resources to delve into that practice.

Another great way to study and share is to start your own book collection and even a book

club with like-minded people. Second-hand spiritual bookstores are an awesome cost-effective way to further your interests, as well as local markets, or virtual markets like Gumtree and Marketplace. If you find that overwhelming, ask for book suggestions – either at the bookstore or via social media, or even contact me! You will find people love to share their favourite book titles and authors. Personally, I love the Celestine Prophecy series by James Redfield and find this series a great place to start and a really fun way to learn about spirituality.

All you need to remember is spirituality is a journey and a practice, so take your time but devote daily or weekly time to it – it’s a scaffolded approach to learning - so give yourself permission to delve and explore without an agenda or timeframe. You may also find that your interests will grow and change over time, so keep following that spark of interest and the path will always lead you back to yourself!
